SEO - Search Engine Optimisation
Is your website working for you? We’ve got the knowhow to give you a leg up the search engine ladder.
Our SEO knowhow can give you a leg up the search ladder
Getting seen online is vital in today’s digital world. Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, refers to the techniques that can be used to propel your website to the top of organic (non-paid) search results. For the uninitiated it can all seem a bit perplexing. But really it’s about knowing what search engines are looking for and making sure it’s there for them to find.
What’s it all about?
Imagine you make cakes. When people search for local bakeries, you want to be at the top of the results. If your website doesn’t appear on the first page, the chances are you won’t be the business your potential customers go to.
As technology evolves and businesses compete for visibility online, more strategies and techniques come into play. KIJO’s marketing experts can give you the SEO support you need to make sure you’re ahead of your rivals.
We’re skilled at helping businesses improve their local and sector-specific search performance. These types of search are really important because not only will they boost your visitor numbers, but will ensure the visitors you do get are more likely to be interested in your product or service. Our SEO gurus know the ins and outs of how search engines work, and employ a toolbox of techniques including content creation, email marketing, HTML optimisation, split testing, heat mapping and outreach to get you noticed.
Our approach to SEO is to aim for the top. We don’t just try to get your business on the first page of search results – we go for pole position.
Does my business really need SEO?
In a word, yes. Do you want to be seen online? Do you want customers to find you and engage with you instead of your competitors? Then you need SEO.
The fact is that 90% of web surfers don’t look further than page one of Google. And why should they? With busy lives to lead, no one wants to spend hours trawling through page after page of results. On top of that, more than half of the clicks on the first SERP (Search Engine Results Page) are on the number one listing. If you’re not wrestling for that top spot, you could be missing out on valuable business.
Targeting customers with local and sector-specific SEO
Some smaller or medium sized businesses make the mistake of assuming they can’t afford SEO. But SEO is not a privilege reserved for big brands. If you know what you’re doing you can reap rewards with the most modest of budgets.
The first step is knowing exactly who you’re targeting. By establishing what people are looking for and how they behave online, we’ll build up a digital fingerprint for your demographic. Following on from this, we can drill down the keywords to use in your SEO campaign. More specific keywords mean higher ranking – and more, better quality conversions.
After establishing keywords, our SEO experts will comb through your website to make sure the structure is Google friendly – including your sitemap, navigation and responsiveness. We can create blogs, landing pages and other content around your keywords to give your site a boost on SERPS.
SEO is a moveable feast, and continuous monitoring is essential to get the best out of your campaign. That’s why our team of digital detectives will employ heat mapping and split testing to make sure your SEO is working hard for you. Where necessary we’ll make tweaks as the campaign progresses.
Case study: Putting My Green Clean on the map
My Green Clean provide domestic and commercial cleaning services to customers in the Birmingham area. As a relatively new company, they asked us to help them boost local enquiries whilst also reaching out to an audience further afield. My Green Clean pride themselves in a top notch service – all they needed was for people to find out about them!
What we did
First, we wanted to ensure that all the elements of My Green Clean’s websites we fully optimised for SEO, also known as onsite SEO. This included checking meta titles, meta descriptions and the general state of completion of the website. It’s really important to get the groundwork right before starting on an optimisation campaign.
Next we could move onto the main focus of the campaign – driving local enquiries. Our approach was to introduce micro area landing pages, a technique we’d previously used for other clients to great effect. These landing pages each targeted specific local keywords. We identified the keywords that would feature in the campaign by using research tools and techniques. From these, we created unique content for each of the bespoke landing pages.
As well as the landing pages, we created a flagship piece of content for My Green Clean’s website to maintain their local SERP rankings. We used previously proven outreach methods to secure a number of high quality, relevant backlinks.
At the time of writing the campaign has been running for two months – and the results have been impressive. My Green Clean now receive 30 qualified enquiries on a monthly basis, thanks to the success of the targeted keyword rankings. Out of 36 tracked key words, 31 already appear on the first page of Google. This is a really promising start, especially for a relatively small budget. We’re looking forward to seeing how the campaign develops over the next few months.
