Crown Pavilions are a world-leading, UK-based outdoor garden living space designer and manufacturer.
The business approached KIJO with a view to updating their “tired” and “outdated” website, wanting to improve their online offering and bolster the luxury feel that their high-quality, bespoke products and craftsmanship deliver
Increase in user reaching the goal of navigating to an individual product
Google Lighthouse Performance Scores
Crown Pavilions previous website, whilst workable, wasn’t in line with their brand or their product quality. The site was also tired and dated, and the user experience was in need of improvement.
We conducted a user navigation test to gauge how easily a customer could reach a specific, individual product page from the home page. Crown Pavilions’ existing website scored 60% in this test. The KIJO team identified that this could be greatly improved by upgrading the landing page’s structure and overall site navigation.
By re-structuring the home landing page, the KIJO team grouped together, and thus highlighted, Crown Pavilions’ 4 main product categories in a custom-scrolling section. In addition, we used a large, high-quality image of a featured Crown Pavilions product to captivate the user. KIJO then developed the overall user journey, condensing it and making it much more straightforward, ensuring the user could access a product page within 3 clicks.
By refining these systems, we created a user experience (UX) that was luxurious, yet clear and uncomplicated. By doing so, when we ran the navigation user test again on KIJO’s new design, the usability score rose by 13.4%. This meant users were accessing individual products successfully and with much more ease than they were on the previous website.
Crown Pavilions wanted to improve their website conversions and see a direct increase in the sales and leads their website made.
In order to facilitate this conversion growth, KIJO set to work firstly by improving the site’s content and enhancing its message consistency, making sure the user understood the brand’s value proposition and promoting its product desirability. We then added key calls to action (CTAs) and optimised them by strategically placing buttons throughout the pages to encourage brochure downloads and showsite visits.
The KIJO team designed and added an easy-to-use contact form that included a filter identifying the type of enquiry the user was making. We also added a brochure download form that was accessible and clear.
An enhanced user journey heavily contributes to better conversion rates too, so the fact that product pages are now easier to get to as well (in under 3 clicks) means conversions will follow suit.
When it came to improving the website performance for Crown Pavilions, we needed to ensure that the website was consistently operating smoothly, loading quickly and minimising the risk of any downtime.
We incorporated ‘lazy loading’ meaning that images only load when scrolled on to. This makes the performance across the entire site faster as not every single high-resolution image is required to load on landing. We also saved, exported and converted all images into a WEBP file format; the ideal format and file size for modern websites.
We then merged the site onto KIJO’s WordPress Hosting servers, so the site is now being served by dedicated resources and and the KIJO team can directly monitor its performance and uptime continuously. In addition, we made sure that according to Google Lighthouse, the newly designed site loads with a score over 90+ meaning that Google recognises it as a fast-running, reliable site.
Alongside the improvements made to the user journey and experience – namely improving how to go from the home page to the product pages by 13.4% – the overall performance of the Crown Pavilions site is now undeniably enhanced.
By marrying our extensive understanding and experience with thoughtful, appropriately-branded and optimised design, we’ve created a website that delivers functionality, entices users and is confidently sophisticated – just like the products and service Crown Pavilions offer.
With a 13.4% increase in scores on usability and a 90+ score on Google Lighthouse, KIJO have delivered significant improvements that will boost conversions, engage and encourage users and perform consistently.
