Does a Law Firm Need a Website?

Yes. Nowadays, a website is crucial for 99.9% of businesses. For lawyers and solicitors, a dedicated website will help establish your online presence, brand and showcase your team’s specialisms and passions. It will help you effectively promote your law firm and encourage enquiries.

With a professional law firm website, you can display essential information regarding your firm, the services it specialises in, the locations it practises in, the team (and their experience) that your prospective clients will work with, what clients can expect to experience, display testimonials and inform users how to arrange a consultation.

With law firm websites you can even facilitate a user-friendly online booking system for initial consultations. A feature like this will support your firm in streamlining your everyday tasks, but will also help heighten your client’s experience.

What Makes a Law Firm Web Design Good?

The best law firm websites will do a number of key things:

  • Provide a good client experience
Good law firm web design will offer a strong client experience. Content is clear, everything is easy to understand and navigate, offered services are evident and easy to find, and contact information is accessible. The best law firm websites will also have information for clients that need legal support or advice urgently.
  • Strong branding
Strong law firm website design is synonymous with strong branding. This is established with bold visuals, authoritative “About Us” pages and team bios and concrete social proof (e.g. client testimonials and reviews). There should also be confident and transparent content marketing like blogs and videos relating to client’s pain points, the firm’s specialisms and interests.
  • Great functionality
A law firm website can be designed as expertly as you like, but if it isn’t functioning seamlessly, it will lose out to its competitors. A strong law firm website design will load fast, be accessible, be responsively designed for mobile devices, and have an SEO marketing strategy so it can be found. Anything like contact forms or consultation booking systems should operate perfectly too.

The Best Law Firm Website Design Examples

We asked KIJO’s expert UI/UX Designer, Danny Findon-Kent to source and provide comments on 5 law firm websites; ones that hosted designs he really admired. Here are the best law firm website designs according to Danny’s in-depth experience and knowledge in web design.

1. Maxim Tymoshchuk

Maxim Tymoshchuk is a Ukrainian lawyer that specialises in the legal challenges and opportunities of the modern digital landscape.

Why we like it: Danny admired this “very clean and stylised lawyer web design. Often a law website can be overloaded with information. Maxim’s is stripped back, clear and concise making it user-friendly and easy to follow. It hosts unique and advanced motion techniques and illustrations too which make it feel really distinctive.

2. Wordstone

Wordstone is a boutique, Parisian law firm (although it operates globally) dedicated to international arbitration.

Why we like it: Danny really respected this website’s “unique, modern and classy styling and it’s very interesting use of typography. Unlike Maxim Tymoshchuk’s law firm website, there’s a lot of information included on this website. However, Wordstone has managed expertly with its use of negative space and sleek layouts – it’s really easy to digest. The colour palette is great and the navigation is clean and simple.

3. Maxima Legal

US-based law firm Maxima Legal advises businesses and private clients on the most complex areas of law. It has done so for over twenty years.

Why we like it: This website impressed Danny with its “bold typography and unique grid layouts. It also hosts great high-end, corporate style photography. There’s an excellent, large and clear call-to-action form that is easy to find and work. I also appreciated the dual navigation for different information; a hamburger menu for website navigation and a dropdown for their individual services. This is not only clear, but sets Maxima Legal apart from other websites which is neat.

4. Iryce Lawyers

French law firm Iryce is a collective of lawyers with different specialities: property law, corporate law, digital law, distribution law, tax law, commercial law and intellectual property law.

Why we like it: Danny particularly liked the “unusually bright styling for a law firm website design. However, Iryce has uniquely paired this with a great use of negative space and sleek entrance animations on all content. This creates an excellent balance between professionalism, personality and vibrance.

5. Kindleworth

Kindleworth launch and manage some of the most successful new law firms in the UK and across the globe.

Why we like it: Danny was fond of Kindleworth’s “nice use of background gradients to help create a corporate yet stylised feel. The typography pairing of a serif and sans serif are really smart and complement each other well. The smooth entrance animations on all sections are seamless and confident; exactly the vibe you want a law firm web design to give off.

Lawyer Web Design

As we’ve established, the best law firm websites ooze effortless confidence and make the information they need to deliver as clear as possible. They’re also seamlessly functional. This makes for an excellent user experience and builds trust in the law firm’s brand and expertise.
